'[Class 106 (iii)] A ticket or bill issuing machine comprises a row, of punches each allocated to'.a particular monetary value, a punch - operating member movable along the row to operate any selected punch, means for registering preprinted tickets with the punches so that they may be perforated according to their value and adding mechanism of the counter and stepped drum type set by the movement of the punch operating member and actuated by the actual punch operation. The machine shown has a row of fare stage punches 3 and a row of punches 1 divided into two sections, one for pence and one for shillings. The strip tickets pass from a roll 5 underneath the punches to an outlet slot 4. A record strip 7 may be fed along with the tickets to retain a permanent record of the punchings. Above each punch section is a spring plunger '8 which is moved by a screw thread on rod 10 which is rotated by the manual means for setting the value to be punched. Cam-shaped shafts 17 when manually actuated depress plungers 8 and cause the ticket to be punched. The actuation of shaft 17 also rotates a drum 21' having stepped teeth and causes counter 25 to receive impulses equal in number to the teeth pawl 23 passes over. As pawl 23 moves with plunger 8, by suitable stepping of the drum teeth counter 25 records the total of the values of the fares punched in each section. The ticket strip is moved by a pinwheel 26 and severed by a revolving knife 32 both driven by gearing from shafts 17. The strip ticket may be replaced by severed tickets which are presented one by one to the machine for punching.
