[Class 38 (ii)] In a liquid-immersed transformer, water is employed as the immersion medium, the windings and core being wholly or in part protected by solid insulating material and the tank being protected by a waterproof coating or made of water-resistant material. The neutral properties of the water may be maintained by subjecting it to the action of bodies capable-of substituting undesirable anions or cations by hydrogen or hydroxyl ions.
