Abstract
516,788. Cellulose nitrate compositions ; synthetic resin compositions. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. July 7, 1938, No. 20206. Convention date, July 8, 1937. [Class 2 (ii)] A finger nail enamel composition comprises cellulose nitrate, a polymerization product of propyl, butyl, isobutyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, lauryl, cetyl, allyl, methoxyethyl, cyclohexyl or methoxycyclohexyl methacrylate, or a polymerization product of a corresponding ester of acrylic acid, a plasticizer, and a volatile solvent or mixture of volatile solvents having an evaporation rate approximately equal to that of butyl acetate. The ratio of the proportions by weight of cellulose nitrate, polymerization product and plasticizer in the composition must lie within the range of 10:50:10 and 10:5:2. Plasticizers mentioned are dibutyl,. diamyl; dihexyl, diheptyl, dioctyl and methoxyethyl phthalates, tributyl and tricresyl phosphates, dibutyl tartrate, and the phthalate ester of the mixture of alcohols of 4 or more carbon atoms obtained during the synthesis of methanol by the catalytic hydrogenation of carbon monoxide. Specifications 358,534, 428,223 and 473,142 are referred to. The Specification as open to public inspection under Sect. 91 refers to a finger nail enamel composition comprising cellulose nitrate, a plasticizer and a polymerization product of an aliphatic or alicyclic ester of an acrylio acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
