Abstract

516,402. Tennis net adjusters. HIPWELL, A. J, M. July 6, 1938, No. 20048. [Class 132 (ii)] A tennis net adjuster and height indicator comprises a centre band 1 doubled to extend on each side of the net and connected to the displaceable part of an extensible spring fitting fastened to an anchoring device or ground weight, one end of the band being formed with a weighted extension 1a which should just clear or touch the ground when the net is at the correct height. The extensible fitting may consist of a spring pressed plunger 7 in a casing 8. A hook 12 on the casing engages the ground ring or weight. A cup leather 14 on the plunger entraps air with the casing and damps the oscillations of the spring.
