516,297. Electric conductors ; mechanical couplings for cable or wire sheathing. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 30, 1938, No. 19446. Convention date, July 1, 1937. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] Means for anchoring the end of an electric cord to a portable electric apparatus, e.g., to the tubular handle 2 of a vacuum cleaner, comprises a plate 9 carrying the switch 14 and adapted to be secured to the handle 2, or like part, by screws 10, the plate having a non-circular aperture 11 adapted to receive a similarly shaped head 24 on a curved sleeve 20 of rubber &c. moulded on or cemented to the cord 7 and provided with a flange 23; the sleeve is held in place by a yoke 27 engaging grooves in the sides of the head 24 and provided with an upturned finger 28. One screw 10 may hold in place a hook 5 for supporting the end of a vacuum cleaner bag.
