515,144. Elastic stockings &c. HAAKH, H. Feb. 24, 1938, No. 5911. Void. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1937. [Class 81 (ii)] Elastic stockings, knee-caps, wrist-bands, and the like are made from a knitted material united with a layer of rubber, or other polymerized substance capable of forming an elastic film, applied for example by brushing, spraying, dipping or the like, and before or after vulcanization. The stocking or the like may be stretched on a frame during treatment, for example by brushing with latex, and may be treated in the complete state or prior to completion by the sewing of a seam, or by the connection of free edges by lacing or a sliding fastener. To promote ventilation the stocking or the like may be perforated or the elastic layer may be made air-pervious as by treatment with chemicals volatile at higher temperatures. A fabric lining may be provided or the elastic layer, which may be worn on the inside or the outside, may be surfaced with soft fibre dust or cuttings.
