Abstract

514,903. Coiling. WILLIAMS, J. C., and STEWART AUTOMATIC FREEZERS, Ltd. May 18, 1938, No. 14818. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Tubing is wound with a flattened surface in contact with a cylindrical surface by imparting an initial convexity to the tubing to counteract distortion during coiling. Circular section tubing is fed through three passes a and is given a somewhat elliptical shape. The tubing is then wound on a cylindrical body by a travelling guide m with the convex side of the tubing in contact with the body. During winding the contact surface of the tubing is flattened. Making heat exchangers. -Application to the freezing cylinders of ice cream machines as described in Specification 513,417, [Group XIII], is referred to.
