Abstract

514,495. Stockings. BOOTH & SONS, Ltd., A., and BOOTH, A. May 6, 1938, No. 13599. [Class 141] A ladies' stocking comprises a stout or reinforced upper portion, a leg portion of finer thread, with a seam down the back of the leg, and a narrow reinforcement in the leg fabric immediately below the line of demarcation between the two portions, and on each side of the rear seam. The stocking shown comprises a top portion 10 of cotton &c. a leg portion 11 of silk, and spliced areas 14a, 14b, which are provided on each side of the seam 13, and extend downwardly from the line of demarcation 12 between the portions 10, 11. The spliced areas extend preferably between thigh fashioning marks, 15, and diminish in width in the downward direction preferably in step-like formation. The top 10 consists of a turned welt 10a, and a band 10b of single thickness fabric. The edges to be seamed at the rear of the leg may be selvedged or cut edges. U.S.A.
