513,881. Sanitary and hygienic devices. RICHARDSON. L. F., and FAULKNER, V. J. April 22, 1938, No. 12146. [Class 40 (iv)] A disinfecting device for a telephone instrument 11 of the hand-microphone type comprises two absorbent or antiseptic pads which are displaceably mounted so that one of them engages with the mouthpiece 10 and the other with the earpiece 9 independently of the manner in which the instrument is replaced on its stand. The pads 1 are mounted in holders 2. which are rotatably mounted on extensions of a collar 6 attached to the neck of the desk set 7 and are biased upwardly by light springs, the upward movement of the arms being limited by lugs 13. Each pad 1 is provided with a disc 4 which snaps over an apertured projection formed on the base of the holder 2. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the pads and holders are carried by the end portions of a bent wire having its central portion attached to the base of the desk-set.
