Abstract
513,251. Adjusting wireless apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PETERS, W. H. Dec. 30, 1937, No. 36098. [Class 37] In a wireless receiver wherein tuning is effected either by adjustment of one or more variable tuning condensers or by the selective substitution therefor of one of a series of preset condensers, one or a series of condensers being provided for each pre-selected station, the shaft of a dial controlling the connection of the preset condensers is inter-connected with the wave-range switch so that the latter is adjusted and preferably locked by operation of the dial. The connection of the preset condensers and of the variable tuning condensers is controlled by a selector switch 20 geared to a shaft S carrying a dial 2 similar to that of an automatic telephone. The dial has apertures 5 which frame station names and one indication for manual tuning marked on a fixed disc 4. The selected indication is denoted by an arrow 6 on the dial and a stub 7, is provided to indicate with the arrow 6 the limits of rotation of the dial which is locked in its various positions by notches 10 therein co-operating with a spring detent 11. A cam slot 9 in the dial is engaged by a roller 16 guided in a slot in the fixed frame plate 18 and connected by links 15, 14 to the wave-range switch 12 which is thereby operated in accordance with the position of the dial 2. In the " manual tuning " position of the dial, Fig. 2 (not shown), the roller 16 engages a widened portion of the cam-slot 9 to permit of normal manual control of the wave-range switch through a knob 3 and links 21, 22, 14.
