Abstract
512,814. Felting hats. HUBBARD, G. O., SKELTON, A. J., and HUBBARD, Ltd., S. March 23, 1938, No. 8877. [Class 63] [Also in Group VIII] A machine for felting hat bodies has one or more but not all its rolls which all rotate in the same direction, reciprocated axially and one or more with projections on its periphery. As shown, the rollers a, b, c are smaller in diameter at the middle than at the ends and have annular projections p semicircular in section. These projections may be interrupted at intervals as at 1. The two bottom rolls b, c are reciprocated axially by cams and springs t, and have their projections p staggered. The roller a is mounted in a frame pivoted at j and adapted to be raised at intervals by levers 9, 10, 13 and a cam 14, for the insertion and removal of the work.
