[Class 14 (ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] Beer is brought under pressure control at the brewery either before or after chilling, is centrifuged and transferred under appropriate pressure into transportable containers, the beer being then delivered into storage containers under pressure -at the place of sale from which it is finally drawn off for consumption through a warming means and filter device. Beer from a racking vessel 4, Fig. 1, is passed into a conditioning vessel 1 maintained under pressure by connection with a vessel 14 which receives fermentation gas under pressure and is discharged through a hop filter 10, or beer is passed directly from the vessel 4 to a hop filter into which carbondioxide is introduced. The beer is then passed through a counter-current cooler 11, a pump 20 and a centrifugal 21 to a tank wagon 25 divided by partitions into separate compartments 26, 27, 28, to which gas may be supplied by pipes 41, 44 from the vessel 14, or from which gas may be passed through a compressor 50 and purifying- vessels 52 to the vessel 14. The tank wagon is fitted with a vessel 37 to receive compressed gas which may be used to maintain the pressure on the compartments. At the place of sale the beer is discharged from the wagon 25 into a vessel 56, Fig. 2, contained in a cooled thermostatically-controlled cellar or other compartment under counter-pressure obtained by connection of pipes 41, 43, with the pipes 64, 66, and from a chamber 65 supplied from a gas cylinder 68. Beer is withdrawn from the chamber 56 to the dispensing apparatus 74 through a pipe 59, the upper part of which is cooled by circulation of air from the chamber by a fan 77 through a jacket surrounding the pipe, and is discharged through a device 78 embodying a heat-exchanger in which the beer is warmed by water heated by an immersed electric-heater, and a coarse screen or filter plate. The heat-exchanger may be shut off, drained and flushed with water.
