Abstract

512,600. Ball mills. NEWELL & CO., Ltd., E., and MOSS, A. H. Dec. 15, 1938, No. 36519. [Class 59] The drum 2 of a ball mill is strengthened around the holes for the bolts 3 which secure the lining 1 to the drum by plates or discs 4 secured by welding 6 and perforated to receive the bolt, the perforation being arranged to provide a recess 5 adapted to receive a deformable packing 7. The packing is squeezed into the recess by a washer 8 under the nut 9 and seals the opening between bolt and drum.
