Abstract

512,552. Moulding concrete towers in situ ; scaffolding. BOUSSIRON, S. J. Jan. 9, 1939, Nos. 730 and 731. Convention dates Jan. 20, 1933 and March 10, 1938. [Class 20 (ii)] Concrete towers, reservoirs and similar buildings having a curved profile are cast in situ between shuttering supported by internal pillars curved to the profile of the wall erected in sections, the lateral curvature of the shutter supports being automatically adjusted as they are raised on the pillars. The pillars 2 are formed of superposed triangular braced sections 3 the shape of which in height is adjusted by diagonal members 14, or 14', and these sections which are superposed as the building proceeds are connected by members 8 to the previously cast course. Each of the pillars carries an internal scaffold 4 disposed between it and the cast wall and an external hanging scaffold 5, and the intervals between the piers are bridged by floor elements 13. These floors support further guide floors each comprising a rigid member 15, braces 17, and a curved shutter supporting member 16. The inner face of each member 15 is appropriately curved at 19 to give the correct lateral curvature to the support member 16 as it is raised, by bearing against vertical guide uprights 20, fixed to the pillars, the ends of the support members being held at a constant distance from the pillars by ties 21 and being cut off as and when required. The shutter supports 22 are carried by the flexible support 16 at their upper ends and are fixed at their lower ends to the previously cast course.
