512,404. Regeneration of catalysts. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. March 14, 1939, No. 8151. Convention date, Sept. 1, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 1 (i)] In tne regeneration of catalysts contaminated by combustible materials, the material is ignited at one end of the body and oxygencontaining gas is blown through from the other end, so that the combustion progresses in tne direction opposite to the flow of oxygencontaining gas. The ignition may be effected by controlling the gas current so that it attains ignition temperature only after being pre-heated by flowing through the whole depth of the catalyst. Alternatively, a preliminary gas current in a direction opposite to the main current may be used to initiate the ignition.
