512,394. Trombones &c. WORNELL, C. N. M. Jan. 25, 1939, No. 2614. [Class 88 (ii)] In a trombone or other brass wind instrument, a U-shaped tuning or hand slide is formed of a single length of tubing having parallel limbs connected by a tapering bend. The hand slide 12, 13, 11 formed in this way slides over the fixed tubes 15, 14, which have enlarged ends 18, 17 rounded at 19, entering at the innermost position sockets 20 with felt buffers 21. The mouthpiece 6 abuts a shoulder 23 formed in the tube 15. The larger limb of the tuning slide fits into the bell, and the smaller limb fits over the shoulder-tube.
