[Class 70] [Also in Group IV] The higher boiling products of the chlorination of acetals of polyhydric alcohols have the power of plasticizing or softening such materials as chlorinated rubber ; suitable acetals are glycol formal, glycol acetal, #-gamma dihydroxybetane acetal, adonitol dimethylene ether, mannitol triethylidene ether, erythritol mono- and di-methylene ether, pentaerythritol mono- and di-ethylidene ether, acetals of trioses, tetroses and pentoses, and mixtures of isomeric acetals such as are obtained, e.g., by reacting glycerol with acetylene.
