Abstract
510,156. Road - traffic signs. RATCLIFF, J. Jan. 9, 1939, No. 34075/37. [Class 3 (ii)] A reflector device for road kerbs comprising a casing secured to the kerb by a barbed tongue fixed to its rear face, and having at its front oppositely inclined apertured portions facing towards traffic approaching in opposite directions in which reflectors are secured, is characterised in that a springy metal strip bearing on the inner ends of the reflectors is provided to maintain the reflectors in position when they are assembled in the apertures and that a filling compound is subsequently introduced behind the strip or in the space surrounding it to secure the reflectors. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, reflectors 12 are temporarily held in apertures 11 in the casing 7 by a metal strip 13, and then the space between the strip and the back of the casing is filled with a plastic composition which subsequently sets hard. In another embodiment shown in Fig. 3, reflectors 21 are held in the apertured end walls 17 of a casing 15 provided with a convex front wall 16, by a spring 23 and subsequently positively secured by a plastic filling inserted in the casing. The device may be mounted in a recess in the kerb.
