Abstract
507,849. Surgical injection appliances. FROMM, H. Dec. 21, 1937, No. 35327. [Class 81 (ii)] An appliance for injecting' creamy or semi-solid medicaments into body cavities comprises a tube 1 having at one end a pressure-bulb 2 and a lateral vent 5 which serves to release air when the tube is filled, as from a collapsable tube secured to the distal end, and to indicate when the tube is full. A ball 3, of diameter but slightly less than that of the tube, prevents the passage of medicament into the bulb 2 and acts as a displacing member during injection. Cross-bars 4, 8, retain the ball. During injection the vent 5 is closed by a collar 6 moved downwards thereover or rotated to put a hole therein out of register with the vent. The end 7 of the tube may be internally screw-threaded to receive the tilling tube and also to receive nozzles of various shapes or a hypodermic needle fitting. The tube 1 may be of synthetic resin, xylonite, ebonite, glass, impervious paper, or metal, may be of any crosssection, may screw into the bulb 2, and is preferably made of a predetermined capacity which is marked on the tube. The ball 3 may be replaced by a short rubber tube closed at the end adjacent the bulb 2.
