Abstract

506,773. Military entanglements. BAWTREE, A. E. Dec. 29, 1937, No. 35948. [Class 20 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] A military or aerial entanglement, consists of a ribbon of flexible, resilient, material to which has been imparted both a bend and a twist. The ribbon is capable of being rolled into a compact cylindrical form and, when in its expanded operative form occupies a space of three dimensions. The ribbon may be made of spring steel and its edges may (as shown) be formed with pointed projections a. In a modification, the projections have flattened ends and, in another modification, the edges of the ribbon are formed with a number of dovetailed recesses. The entanglement is scattered in the path of the enemy by incorporating coils of the ribbon in projectiles or bombs.
