[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XL] An antenna system comprising a number of separate antennae each of which deals with a particular part of the range to be covered is coupled through amplifiers to a common circuit feeding a number of all-wave receivers. As shown in Fig. 3, the antennae are carried by a common support, those pertaining to adjacent ranges being as far apart as possible. The shorter wavelength ranges are dealt with by di-poles, the longer by T & L antennae 129, 128, the effective capacities of which are increased by connections to the supporting wires of adjacent antennae. The amplifiers for the high frequency ranges have band-pass transformers the windings of which are tuned by adjustment of individual cores of magnetite. A single antenna deals with the normal broadcast range and is coupled to separate amplifiers 93, 95, 97 dealing with different parts of the range over a circuit 51 to which are coupled attenuating circuits 53 tuned to the frequencies of powerful stations to prevent overloading of the amplifiers. The common circuit 45 is associated with resistances 117 across which the individual receivers are connected by a pyramidal arrangement of bifilar transformers. The fourth transformer 113 may be replaced as shown by a resistance 114. Specification 477,890 is referred to.
