[Class 37] [Also in Group XL] In apparatus for comparing electric quantities, rectifiers or resistances are interchanged with one another in rapid succession in order to eliminate errors due to differencies in their characteristics. A circuit arrangement is shown for comparing alternating currents of two different frequencies as applied, for example, in the wireless direction of vehicles by comparing the field, strength of two differently modulated antenna fields. The received signals are rectified in a receiver E and amplified, and conveyed through a transformer T to resonance circuits S1, S2 tuned to the two frequencies. The voltages arising at the oscillator circuits and the currents produced thereby are rectified by rectifiers G1, G2 and compared by a D.C. indicator I, equality being shown by zero deflection. In order to compensate for differences in the characteristics of the rectifiers G1, G2, these are interchanged in rapid succession by means of a rotating roller or other mechanical switch or by means of electric discharge tubes. The invention is applicable also in circuits in which resistances having differing characteristics are employed.
