Abstract

503,487. Sawing or severing wood, stone, metal, &c. CHIVERS & SONS, Ltd., W. E., and GOODALL, E. G. Oct. 4, 1937, No. 26849. [Classes 60, 124, 145 (i), and 145 (ii)] In apparatus for cutting bevels on roof timbers or other material at the required angle, the carriage 37 for a circular saw 36 &c. is mounted on a runway. 38 which is pivotally supported at both ends to adjust the cutting angle. The end supports 39 are pivotally mounted on bolts 47 and associated with locking and angle indicating means including a disc 40. The work is held against a fence 15 pivoted to the table 12 and is clamped to the table by the arm 23, the table being adjustable along the base members 11. The edge of the fence 15 is in line with the pivot and the fence is set by reference to the appropriate one of the scales 19. The angle of the saw is also adjusted by reference to the scales. The end supports 39 are mounted on the upper ends of vertical bars 34 which can be raised and lowered by rack-and-pinion gear in casings 33 carried by transverse tubular bars 30, 31 secured to the base members 11. Connecting shafts running through the bars 30, 31 ensure simultaneous angular and vertical adjustment of the two brackets 39.
