Abstract

503,392. Accordion - pleated blinds. FLOHR & CO., GES., E. Sept. 14, 1938, Nos. 26862, 26863, and 26864. Convention dates, Sept. 14, 1937, Dec. 10, 1937, and July 5, 1938. [Class 20 (iii)] The folding edges of an accordion-pleated blind are provided with strips of stiffening material on one or other, or both sides, the strips standing up from the blind when it is drawn out and stiffening it transversely of the direction of drawing. In the vertically hanging blind 3 shown in Fig. 1, the bending edges 4 on the side remote from the window opening are each embraced by a folded reinforcing strip 5, preferably made of cardboard, which is secured to the blind material by stapling or stitching. Eyelets 7 are formed in the strips for the passage of operating cords 8. The blind is retained in the drawn-out position by inserting the bottom bar 9 beneath two fixed pins 10. Fig. 3 shows a horizontally movable blind which is supported by wires 14 passing through the eyelets 7 in the stiffening strips, the blind being operated by cords 18 attached to a closing bar 19. The underside of the window frame is provided with a masking frame 17 which prevents the passage of light at the edges of the blind. The folds in the blind may be reinforced by strips inserted between the folds of the material or secured on' the outside thereof, and the eyelets for the operating cords may be formed in riders of flexible material, such as leather, pivotally attached to the reinforcing strips.
