[Class 97 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] The effect of accelerations on a pendulum 3 for indicating or controlling the inclination of submarines or torpedoes is neutralized by the inertia of a quantity of water 8 enclosed in a chamber 5 having its axis in the direction of motion and communicating at the ends 9 with the body of water 2 in which the submarine or torpedo 1 is submerged. As shown, the pendulum is pivoted at 4 and has an extension 10 connected to plates 7 which are inserted by means of bellows 6 in an interruption in the tubular chamber 5. In a. modification the extension 10 is connected by a link to a piston sliding in the tubular chamber 5.
