[Class 75 (iv)] In an imitation candle or like flame lamp, the imitation flame element 11, Fig. 2, consists of vanes, made, for example of aluminium foil, which radiate from a common vertical axis and are so shaped as to present in elevation a flame like appearance. The element 11 is mounted at the upper end of a tube 8 which is formed to represent a candle and is carried by a reflector 5 surrounding and concealing a source of light such as an electric incandescent lamp 2, Fig. 1, or a gas mantle 60, Fig. 16. The inside of the tube 8 is polished to act as a reflector and it is formed on the outside with raised portions 10 to simulate dripping wax. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the element 11 is carried by a piece of aluminium wire 12 which is blackened to resemble a wick and to which are secured a pivot pin 13 and a counterweight 16, the former engaging in a bearing on a bracket 14 so that the ascending air currents produce a flicker effect. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the flicker effect is obtained by mounting the element 11 on a light coil spring 35. As shown in Fig. 10, the tube 8 may be constituted by the upper opal part 25 of an electric lamp bulb which is formed with clear and silvered portions 27, 28 respectively and on which the element 11 is mounted, preferably by the engagement of the base of a supporting spiral spring in a recess in the upper end of the part 25. Fig. 13 shows the invention applied to a . chandelier carrying a number of imitation candles 52 on to the flame elements 11 of which the light from the concealed source 2 is directed by lenses 54. In the construction shown in Fig. 19, an imitation antique oil lamp is fitted, at the spout end 72 with a flame element 11 which is illuminated by an electric bulb 2 disposed horizontally within the reflecting body 71.
