Abstract

499,692. Thermal switches. HOFFMAN SPECIALTY CO. March 11, 1938, No. 7597. Convention date, March 11, 1937. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Groups XIII and XXXV] In a switch controlling the current passing through a coil 29 heating a fluid acting on a valve 28 regulating the return of water to a boiler 20, a bar 53 supported in guides above the bellows of thermostats 33, 34, is pressed by a spring 54 against a switch arm 44, and the switch is closed by the tilting of the bar when the bellows of the thermostat 34 contracts upon a fall in temperature of the return water. A current then passes through the heating coil 39 and the valve 28 is opened to allow return water to force hot water from the boiler. The valve is also closed when the bellows of the thermostat 33 contracts, and the bar is so tilted upon its support upon the other bellows. Expansion of the bellows tilts the bar to open a switch 39 in the current of the motor 26 driving a pump circulating pump.
