Abstract

497,791. Nesting-seats. SINGER, F. May 22,1937, No. 14329. [Class 52 (ii)] A nesting-seat or other article of furniture of the cantilever type, adapted to be closely nested with a similar article by being piled thereon, includes a pair of supporting portions which support the seat on opposite sides, each portion comprising a pair of angularly related members of which one at least is inclined to the ground at an acute angle, and of which at least one does not intersect, and has an outer lateral bounding surface which is not coincident with, the vertical plane which passes through the lateral edge of the seat. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a pair of legs 2, 3, of inverted-V form are secured to the front of the seat frame 1 on each side, the legs lying outside the vertical planes through the edges of the seat. In the form shown in Fig 4, the leg 2 is integral with the seat frame, while the leg 3 lies outside the vertical plane through the edge of the seat. When nested, the seat of the second chair lies above the seat of the first, while the leg 2 of the second chair lies below that of the first. Figs. 5 and 7 show further forms. Specification 400,876 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 293,305, [Class 52 (ii)].
