Abstract

497,678. Starch. DEUTSCHE MAIZENA GES., and SCHLIETER, K. June 23, 1937, No. 17521. [Class 121] Potatoes or starchcontaining roots are pulped, the pulp is diluted and separated into a coarse fibrous portion and a juice containing starch and finer fibre, the juice is centrifuged to remove water, and the starch is separated from the coarse fibre and the finer fibre of the juice in further crushing and washing steps. Pulp from a rasp A is diluted in a washing apparatus B, the coarse fibre is drawn off to a crusher D, and the liquid is concentrated by the centrifuge E, and the starch washed through screens F and F1. The medium fibre from screen F is crushed at G, added to the fine fibre from screen F1, and subjected to further washing with the fibre from crusher D. The starch suspension is concentrated in centrifuge O.
