Abstract

496,222. Resilient mountings. GOLDSCHMIDT, M. May 22, 1937, No. 14280. Convention date, May 23, 1936. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient suspension device comprises metal parts 2, 3 each in the form of a continuous helix, the interspaces between the convolutions of the parts being wholly or partly filled by rubber 5 vulcanized thereto. The parts are connected, for example, to the journal 1 of an aircraft engine and the frame 4 of the aircraft relative axial movements of which are damped by rapidly-increasing resistance of the rubber and relative radial and torsional movements by an initial slight resistance followed by a rapidly-increasing resistance. The convolutions are spaced by coiled metal strips 6, 8 which contain rubber inserts 12, 13 and are clamped in position by sprung-in rings 9 or by screwed flanges. The edges of the convolutions are covered with rubber 10, 11. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also constructions in which the helical parts are replaced (a) by conical discs, and (b) by discs having annular curved depressions. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
