494,778. Kinematograph projectors. OFFICE GENERAL DE LA CINEMATOGRAPHIE FRANCAISE. May 28, 1937, No. 14893. Convention date, June 18, 1936. [Class 97 (i)] In apparatus wherein prolonged projection of a single image is obtained by means temporarily rendering the feed claws inoperative, and a disengageable clutch is provided in the spool drive to render the drive inoperative during the prolonged projection, the clutch comprises a disc 12 which controls the action of a pawl 9 serving to engage and disengage a wheel 8, fixed on the spool-driving shaft 5, with a driven wheel 4 ; the sprockets may be driven from the spool driving means, only the movements of the claws to and from the film may be stopped during prolonged projection, and the clutch may be controlled by hand or by a notch in the film edge. The pawl 9 is pivoted on a pin 10 riveted to the wheel 8, and has a notch normally engaged by a pin 11 to hold it in driving engagement with one of a number of pins 7 secured to the wheel 4, the pin 11 being secured to the disc 12 and passing through a slot in the wheel 8. A spring 14 holds the pin 11 and pawl 9 in engagement until the hooked end of a lever 15 is moved to engage one of a number of projections 13 on the disc 21; a friction washer prevents backward rotation of the wheel 8 whilst the lever 15 and projection 13 are engaged.
