Abstract

493,862. Wireless systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and RAMSAY, J. F. April 15, 1937, No. 10776. [Class 40 (v)] A remote-control tuning arrangement comprises a local circuit, such as the grid coil 3 of an oscillator 1, coupled to a length of concentric cable 10, 11, the remote end of which is coupled to a series resonant circuit 12, 13 so dimensioned with respect to the electrical length of the cable that the oscillator tuning may be varied by the condenser 13 between frequencies corresponding to “ and ¢ wavelength of the cable. The tendency of such an arrangement to oscillate on several "modes" may be prevented by using one or more acceptor circuits 14, 15 or by resonating the anode circuit in the higher portion of the desired range of frequencies, the resulting rising voltage-frequency characteristic thus given to the oscillator being levelled if desired by a resistance across the reaction coil 2. The required physical length of cable together with the necessary electrical length may be obtained by adding an artificial line to a given cable.
