493,661. Golf &c. practising- appliances. BROSCOMBE, H. Aug. 7, 1937, No. 21779. [Class 132 (ii)] Apparatus of the captive-ball type for practising golf or other strokes comprises a ball carried by or formed integral with a flexible arm the mounting of which is adjustable so that the effective length of the arm and consequently its resistance to bending or deflection can be varied. As shown in Fig. 1, two flexible ball-carrying arms 2 are adjustably secured by screws 7 within slots in a bush 6 mounted to revolve above the floor or ground level about a vertical pivot 3 secured to a base plate 4. In a modification, Fig. 3, the flexible or rubber arm is secured by a screw 10 within either of two slots 9 arranged at right-angles to one another in a bracket 8 which may be secured to the wall or floor by screws passing through holes 8x. In a further modification, the flexible arm is secured horizontally within a slot in a stake or spike driven into the ground. In a further modification suitable for cricket or base-ball, an horizontal rubber arm is adjustably mounted in a bracket which may be adjusted up and down a vertical post.
