Abstract

1385004 Golf practising apparatus D COLEMAN 10 July 1973 [18 July 1972] 32818/73 Heading A6D Apparatus suitable for use in practising low arc golf strokes such as putting strokes includes a golf club 1 having a slot 5 in the shaft 2 extending at right angles to the strike surface 4 of the head 3 and a pair of rods 6 passing through the slot 5 which are arranged parallel to the desired path of the ball so that when the strike surface 4 of the club engages the ball it is substantially at right angles to the desired path of the ball. The rods 6 are mounted on members 7 which are supported by spikes 8 (Fig. 1) or by L-shaped brackets 12 (Fig. 2), the lower part of one of the members 7 being spaced from the ground by a distance greater than the diameter of a golf ball so that the ball may pass beneath it. The angle that the plane containing the two rods 6 makes with the ground may be varied by (a) selecting one of a series of holes 11 for mounting the lower rod 6 on the member 7, (b) moving the lower rod 6 along an arcuate slot (not shown) in the member 7 or (c) adjusting the angle of the member 7A on its support 12 (Fig. 2) by means of wing nut 13.
