Abstract

492,222. Copying by scanning. TAVY, L. DE. Oct. 29, 1937, No. 29616. Addition to 492,202. [Class 40 (iii)] A design element is first transferred by photoelectric scanning to a copying design carrier which is on a cylindrical surface with a radius of curvature corresponding with that of the embossed patterned roller which is to be manufactured, or with an aliquot fraction or multiple of it, and the design element is then transferred from the carrier to the roller by a contact copying process. The latter may be as described in Specifications 322,994 and 323,629, [both in Class 98 (ii)]. The drum, which carries the copying design carrier, has an adjustable radius of curvature.
