Abstract
492,111. Stage platforms. ROZSNYAI, S. May 6, 1937, No. 12944. [Class 132 (i)] The space for exhibition turns on a dance floor comprises an annular disc 12 fitting a cylindrical recess in the floor and a smaller central disc 44, the discs being rotatable at various speeds in either direction and being independently movable up and down. The rotation is effected by a friction cone 34 driven from an electric motor 31 and engaging a wedge-section ring 30 on a frame 4. The frame 36 carrying the bearings 35 of the shaft 33 of the cone 34 is rotatable about a pivot 37, Fig. 3, and is supported by springs 38 serving to press the cone 34 against the ring 30. A friction cone 40 positively geared to the cone 34 engages the upper face of the ring 30. The disc 12 is fitted with wheels 22 running on an annular rail 21, and it is lifted by motor-driven racks 27 carrying rollers 28 engaging annular rails 25 on the disc. The disc 44 is raised and lowered by a motor-driven nut 46 engaging a screw-thread on the shaft 45 supporting the disc. As the disc 44 is lowered, a safety cylinder 66 is raised when a slide 55 engages another slide 72 connected to the cylinder 66 by ropes 69 passing over pulleys 68. The driving- motors are controlled by switches at the bandstand.
