Abstract

491,536. Ball games. HEIMERS, R. March 5, 1937, No. 6645. [Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii)] A captive ball is attached to a length of elastic passing between supports 8 having a number of separate wheels or rollers 1, 1a with guards 5 partially or wholly surrounding them for keeping the elastic in place, the latter then passing through frictionreducing means 16. When applied to a tennis racket, the supports are attached by rubber bands 10, 21, Fig. 1, and a winding drum 11 is provided on the lower support for storing excess elastic. On the upper support, the friction-reducing means consists of two pairs of rollers 16, 18, Fig. 8, while the guard 5 is provided with a number of prongs 6, Fig. 5, for separating the elastic. Modifications are described for applying the invention to other games apparatus including baseball, football, and pelota, a Spanish game. Golf, hockey, and other Spanish games are mentioned.
