[Class 132 (ii] Apparatus for playing a table game simulating rugby football, water polo and the like, and of the kind comprising a board or like playing area, a goal device at each end, a " ball " adapted to slide upon the playing area, and a plurality of slidable pieces representing players of opposite sides or teams, is characterised by the player pieces, Figs. 6, 7, being shaped so as to be capable of partially embracing and retaining the " ball," Fig. 12, and travelling with same over the playing area when a player piece is struck into contact with the " ball " by a projector implement, Fig. 10, held by a person participating in the game. The " ball " may be oval in shape to conform with a recess c<1> in the player piece. The striker, Fig. 10, has a felt striking tip j<1>. A goal kick is taken by placing a wedge k<1>, Fig. 11, in the path of the sliding " ball " and thereby causing the ball to rise. The goals b<1> fold down on to the playing area. A groove g<1> extends along the goal line. A try is scored when the " ball " enters the groove. An upstanding border f which may be fitted with a rubber cushion surrounds the playing area.
