Abstract

491,157. Photographic cameras provided with exposure meters and viewfinders. KODAK, Ltd. Feb. 27, 1937, No. 5946. Convention date, March 23, 1936. [Class 98 (i)] A photographic camera adapted to receive interchangeable objectives has a photo-electric exposure meter and a pair of indicating members, one of which is actuated by the photoelectric cell to give an indication corresponding to the intensity of light incident on the camera objective, while the other is operable by a cam on a diaphragm adjusting member associated with the objective, the diaphragm being set for correct exposure when the indicating members are coincident. As shown a kinematograph camera 1 has a lens mount 2a with focusing ring 2b. The housing 5 contains a cellular baffle and a photo-electric cell connected to the coil 10 rotatable in the field of a magnet 11. A pointer 12 on the coil shaft moves over a transparent or translucent plate 13 carrying a scale 14 of stop values. The camera has a direct vision view-finder built into the carrying handle 15. The eyepiece frame 16 has a slit 24 and a lens 17 slidable downwardly by knobs 33 guided in slots 34. An auxiliary frame 18a for the object lens 18 is pivoted at 18b at the top of the carrier 19. A prism 23 brings the pointer 12 and its scale 14. into the field of vision of the operator through the slit 24. An opening is provided in the front of the housing to illuminate the scale 14. A spring-raised pointer 25 coaxial with pointer 12 and in front of the plate 13 has an extension 27 bearing on a cam 28 integral with the diaphragm adjusting ring 29 which is operated by a knurled lug 30. The pointer 25 is kept coincident with pointer 12 to correct the diaphragm opening for existing light conditions. A mask is placed over the front of the housing 5 if a slower speed film is used. The detachable fastening for the objectives may be of the bayonet lock type. In using a telephoto lens, the view-finder object lens is swung into inoperative position and the eyepiece lens is lowered, the scene being observed through two sight openings without lenses. Each objective is provided with a suitable cam 28. Specification 395,808 is referred to.
