[Class 19] In a pad having a self-contained supply of polishing agent expressible through pervious means at at least one side of the pad, a plurality of segregated spaces hold the polishing agent, which is gradually expressed from the spaces by pressure on their walls when the pad is in use. As shown in Fig. 2, a fibrous or felt-like layer 1, of knitted or woven textile material, natural or artificial sponge, or any other soft porous material, is secured at its edges to a backing member 2 formed with portions 5 pressed outwardly and holding masses of reserve wax. The fingers may be placed in the intervening spaces and a loop may extend across the back of the hand. Closely spaced hollow embossed parts may be substituted for the members 5. The wax holding spaces may be formed by a corrugated sheet 11, Fig. 6, secured to a backing sheet 14 of greaseproof material provided with a hand loop 19. Wax discharge perforations 17 are provided, and a sheet 18 of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Cellophane " may cover the perforations when the pad is not in use. The wax may be on both sides of the sheet 11, and an additional pervious sheet may be provided between the sheets 11 and 18. To provide additional space for wax, two sheets 11, Fig. 11, may be superposed, perforations 39 in the sheets allowing wax to leave the central compartments. In reversible constructions, a central impervious sheet may have a corrugated sheet on each side, faced with terry cloth or other pile or napped material.
