Abstract

489,885. Locking-nuts &c. CLAYTON, C. E. EVERY-. (Illinois Tool Works) June 1, 1937, No. 15260. [Class 89 (i)] In a self-locking nut or like device, two or more slots are made in the outer wall of the body and each extends through the thread and less than halfway across the body. As shown, two slots 16 are cut parallel to the threads and each overhanging portion 18 is distorted at one side more than at the other to compensate for the different thicknesses of the two sides.
