Abstract
489,277. Conveyers. OZONIC, Ltd., and TOOLEY, H. V. Jan. 19, 1937, Nos. 1571 and 6695. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] A refrigerator cabinet for cooling bottled beverages of the kind having means defining a path through the cabinet on to which the bottles can travel, and a door giving access to a point on the path so as to allow of the withdrawal of the bottle or bottles which were the first to be introduced, comprises means whereby the opening of the withdrawal door automatically effects the partial withdrawal of a bottle or bottles and means whereby the withdrawal of a bottle (or the operation of the door associated with such withdrawal) automatically advances the bottles along the path. A band 20, Fig. 4, travels on rollers 23, 24 round a triangular path in the refrigerator, so as to pass openended cylindrical shells 21 for the bottles one by one past a door 22. An arm fixed to the door operates a link 26 and rod 27, and the latter reciprocates a pawl 29 driving the roller 24, so that, every time the door is closed, a newlyfilled shell 21 is advanced past the door and a shell to be emptied is presented. The bottle is pushed partly out of the shell when the door opens by a lever 32, normally retracted by a spring, but which may be advanced by a link 31 coupled to the link 26. In a third form the bottles are placed, four in each of a series of compartments 40, Fig. 5, mounted round the circumference of a wheel. Each shell, in the horizontal position passes in front of a door 41, to which is coupled a link 46, lever 47 and pusher rod 48, so that, when the door is closed, the rod 48 is raised. While a bottle remains in the shell a flap 43, Fig. 8, extending across the shell cannot fall and a rod 44 cannot be advanced. When the shell is empty the rod advances and is engaged by the rod 48 as the door shuts, so that the rod is carried up against a pin 49, after which the wheel is rotated until a new shell comes into position before the door. The wheel is positioned, and excessive rotation prevented, by a bolt 50 engaging the shell 40 and which is withdrawn by a bell-crank lever 51 when the rod 44 is raised. After emptying the shells pass out of and remain for some time outside the refrigerator to give time for them to be refilled. In the rest position, two of the compartments close the opening in the refrigerator casing through -which they pass. Mechanism, similar to that of Fig. 4, for partly ejecting the bottles is provided.
