489,081. Draught - and weather - excluding strips. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Nov. 24, 1937, No. 32364. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1936. [Class 20 (iii)] A weather-excluding or like strip is secured to a support, such as a door or door frame, by one or more fasteners, each of which comprises a base portion, an integral support-engaging portion extending from the base at one side thereof and in the form of an expansible part adapted to pass into an aperture in the support and to be expanded to prevent disengagement of the fastener from the aperture and a stripclamping portion extending from the base at the other side thereof, the free end of the stripclamping portion extending towards the base to clamp the strip in position. In the construction shown, the support-engaging portion is pressed from the base 9 of the fastener, and comprises side wall portions 13 connected by a folded portion 14. The fastener is secured to the support 1 by passing the pressed-out portion through an aperture 16 in the support and inserting a suitable tool to straighten the folded portion 14 and thus spread outwardly the side portions 13 to grip the edges of the aperture. The strip-clamping portion 11 of the fastener is hook-shaped and is engaged in a longitudinal groove 5 in the strip 3, the free edge of the hook preferably being formed with teeth 15 which grip the sealing strip.
