488,968. Shuttlecocks. LETHABY, H., and GOODWOOD SPORTS, Ltd. July 7, 1937, No. 18902. [Class 132 (iii)] A shuttlecock has the component parts assembled together and the almost finished article is allowed to season, when a screw of appropriate weight is screwed into the base of the shuttlecock from the flat or inner end thereof. Pieces of kid b, c are stretched over and secured by adhesive to the usual base a and a piece of ribbon d secured by adhesive covers the butt joint between the pieces of kid b, c. Feathers e are inserted and stitched with twine f, g in the usual manner. The shuttlecock is then seasoned and a screw h is inserted and covered by a disc of linen or the like, secured to the base by adhesive, the weight of the screw h and the disc and an allowance for the adhesive used being such as to bring up the weight of the shuttlecock to the required standard. More than one screw may be used.
