Abstract
488,578. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Jan. 11, 1937, No. 781. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1936. [Class 98 (i)] Latch devices for both the front and the bed of a folding camera are released from operative position by the operation of the focusing member of the camera. The camera bed 4 is hinged on a pintle 7 to the body 1, and the lens board 12 is supported by lazy-tongs 13 which are attached both at pivots 15 and at studs 16 which slide in slots 17 in the lens board 12. Each stud 16 also supports a link 18 which is pivotally attached at 19 to the bed 4. One latch device comprises a pivoted lever 31 which is pressed by a spring 32 so that a shoulder 33 lies over a lug 34 on the link 18. When the focusing ring is moved clockwise, a lug 36 strikes a flange 37 on the lever 31 and moves it to the unlatched position. The second latch member comprises a flange 38 on the lens board 12 provided with an aperture 39 for receiving a pin 40 carried by a leaf spring 41 on the link 18. As the camera is opened, the pin 40 rides over the flange 38 and drops into the aperture 39. When the focusing handle 26 is moved clockwise, to a position beyond that for infinity focusing, a straight edge 45 on the ring 25 strikes a flange 44 on the spring 41 and moves the pin out of the latching position. As the camera is folded, an extension 47 on the lazy-tong member 13 moves the focusing ring to the infinity position. A latch member 50 with pin 51 and slot 52 locks the camera in folded position. Specification 471,541 is referred to.
