Abstract

Parasiticidal compositions containing thiodiphenylamine as the active ingredient are stabilized by the addition of a small quantity of b -naphthol or hydroquinone. The addition may be made by grinding the ingredients together, by the use of a common solvent, or by addition to molten thiodiphenylamine during manufacture. The compositions may be used in aqueous sprays with usual wetting agents or may be applied in dust form with silica, talc, &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to the stabilization of thiodiarylamines generally, these being compounds of the general formula <FORM:0488428/IV/1> in which R, R1 are aromatic nuclei their linkages to N and S being in the ortho relation and the stabilizing agents being usually phenolic compounds or aromatic amines, but including also hydrazine, phenyl hydrazine, diphenylguanidine, tannic acid. Insecticidal compounds of the class defined are those produced by the action of sulphur on diarylamines, e.g. phenyl-a and b -naphthylamines, di-a and b -naphthylamines, di-biphenylamine, N : N-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine, N : N - di - a - naphthyl - p - phenylenediamine, N : N - di - biphenyl - m - phenylenediamine, N : N-diphenyl-m-phenylenediamine, N - N - diphenylbenzidine, p : p1 - di - (phenylamino) - diphenylamine.
