[Classes 27 and 143] [Also in Group XVII] In a machine for wrapping coins to form cylindrical packages, the coins pass from hoppers 1 past guide plates 3 into tubes 2, from which a number of guide tubes 4, of different sizes, lead. The smaller tubes are nearest the hopper, so that the various sizes are separated, and drop into their appropriate tubes. Each tube leads to an inclined guide 5 and a vertical coin tube 6. Stop members 8 are provided at the base of each part 4, 5. Each stop member comprises a number of curved plates 8 adapted to be pulled out of the shaft by the action of electromagnets 7 on armatures 10, and returned by springs 9 when the circuit is broken. Normally the circuit is energized, and the tubes are open for the coins to drop through on to a spring- mounted platform 11. When the predetermined number of coins has accumulated, the spring 16 is depressed by the weight of the stack, and a collar 18 contacts with an arm 19, an extension 20 of which separates the contacts 21, 22 and breaks the circuit. The plates move inwards and prevent the arrival of more coins. The tube 6 is constituted by a spring held flap 12 in front, and a roller 15 behind. Upon the circuit being broken, wrapping apparatus is clutched to the main drive by electromagnetic means. A counting mechanism may be provided for each coin-tube, and a bell or light signal may be operated when a packet has been completed.
