Abstract

487,206. Dispensing lubricants. ARO EQUIPMENT CORPORATION. Nov. 2, 1937, No. 30003. Convention date, Sept. 23. [Class 116] A cabinet for lubricant-dispensing apparatus comprises a base B which may be mounted on wheels or castors 12, and an open-bottomed housing H which rests on the base and supports the lubricant pumps, fluid pressure means being provided to elevate the pump-carrying members. The housing may itself carry the pumps so that the whole housing is elevated to enable oil-drums to be removed from or placed on the base, or pump-carrying platforms resting on the housing may be raised independently of the housing, in which case the housing is provided with doors for access to the base. When the housing carries the pumps, hollow piston rods 16, Fig. 6, are loosely coupled to the stiffened top 19 of the housing by bolts 23 having a cross-pin 27 seating in a notch in a plug 20 at the upper end of the piston rods, turning of the piston rods being prevented by pins 28 in the housing engaging in a slot in the plugs 20. The pistons 15 work in cylinders 14, to the lower ends of which compressed air can be admitted through a connection 36. The cylinders are bolted into tubular transverse members 13 in the base. Sleeves 59 on the piston rods engage guide plugs 18 in the cylinder ends to determine the elevated position of the housing. The pumps have intake pipes reaching nearly to the bottom of oil-drums D on the base when the housing is in lowered position, and are operated by compressed air supplied through valves 52 from a single connection 49. Rails 47 and hooks 48 on the housing carry the hoses and nozzles of the various pumps. Compressed air is conveyed by a hose 56, which may be coupled either to the connection 49 for operating any selected pump, or to a connection 32, having a restricted orifice, for elevating the housing to enable oil-drums to be removed from or placed on the base: When pump-carrying platforms are elevated independently of the housing, the platforms may be rigidly coupled together, or may be independent, the pipe connections to the elevating cylinders being arranged accordingly. Specification 473,221, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
