Abstract
486,487. Mashing and pressing fruit and vegetables. HARPER & CO., Ltd., J., and EMERY, H. V. July 10, 1937, No. 19182. [Class 28 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] A press or masher for fruit, potatoes &c. comprising a container A having a handle a and a front wall B, and a. pivoted pressing-member C, integral with a handle c, is characterired by the slots d, in which the trunnions e are received, being open-ended and directed rearwardly, and by the trunnions e being provided with projections e<1> which, when the trunnions abut against the ends of the slots, engage in part-circular recesses d<1> so that the trunnions can be disengaged from the slots only when the member C is in a substantially horizontal position. The slots and recesses d<1> are formed in parts D projecting from the side walls of the container. The top edge of wall B is formed as a sill b, which is hollowed out to receive a barrel-like formation E on the members C, c. The sides of the projections e<1> are tangential to the trunnions, and the recesses d<1> end in shoulders d<2> which contact with the projections to limit the upward movement of the members C, c. In a modification, the body of the container A is of pressed metal and is secured at its upper edges within a recess in a frame which is formed with the hinge lugs.
