Abstract

<PICT:0486162/III/1> <PICT:0486162/III/2> Means for sealing windows, doors, cases, cupboards, or the like against the entry of poison gas comprises strips, cords, tubes or varnishes &c. comprising chlorinated rubber mixed with an oil such as wool fat or ricinus oil, finely divided asbestos and anti-gas agents such as urotropine and chloramine-T. As shown in Fig. 1, the material is wrapped in wax cloth or sail clot or gauze 1. A band 1a of gauze or other flexible material, Fig. 2, may be coated with a varnish containing chlorinated rubber 95 per cent linseed or ricinus oil, a solvent such as toluol and absorption agents, e.g. aluminium powder, and a layer of dry glue 3 may be applied for securing the strip in position. Urotropine or chloramine or other anti-gas reagents may be incorporated with fibrous substances in the protective layer or secured as a cord to the band 1a. Substances may also be incorporated to protect against bacterial action.
